To summarize the commentary of Michel Bitbol in The Systems View of Life page 266 —
Perhaps pure, non-reflexive experience — the mere “feel” of sensing and being — is inherent in the universe. Maybe pure experience or elementary consciousness or phenomenal consciousness is not a secondary feature of an objective world but is plainly here — “primary in the strongest sense”.
The world as we find it is no collection of objects per say, it is a “perceptive-experience-of-objects”.
“Conscious experience is self evidently pervasive and existentially primary”.
There is no anything without experience, so maybe it is the very foundation — the essence of the universe.
