Here is a common pattern in communication that mirrors the Yin-Yang pattern of natural reality. There is Message and Medium, Content and Structure, Pattern and Matter, Form and Emptiness, Presence and Absence, light and dark.

As written in the Tao Te Ching — a form of clay, emptiness makes the jar work.

You can think of a speech for instance as really two skills - the subject matter expertise and the skill in speaking. I’m told that Gladwell’s book Outliers he claims that this combination of niche expertise and a supportive or complimentary transmission skill is essential.
